About THE Book
If you’re acting, training or aspiring to succeed in the entertainment industry, this book is for you. Written by an established talent management professional, this succinct and impactful text delivers a roadmap to professional achievement — featuring examples, challenges, and milestones, as well as insights into success principles practiced by masters like Beyoncé, LeBron James, Tiger Woods, and many others.
The Actor’s Guide to Success shows you how to become a student of the business, detailing when and how to select a coach and manager, how those relationships should work, and how they should be paid. The greater focus, however, applies to you. Inside, you’ll learn how to make wise choices in the industry, and to develop (and maintain) a winning attitude. You’ll also benefit from the author’s own collaborative experiences with both television and big screen actors.
Above all, you’ll come to understand a guiding truth: “The most important aspect of the journey toward improving your career is you. Not your relatives or your acting coaches. Not your manager or even your agent,” explains Arthur G. Smith. “These entities will aid your career, but at the beginning and the end, it all starts and stops with you.”
Arthur G. Smith is an entertainment professional with more than fifteen years of experience in the industry. As the founder and president of AGS Media, Inc., a talent management firm for creatives, personalities, and brands, Arthur makes it his mission is to bring good artists and their work to the public.
